Description
An evergreen tall tree with pale ash grey bark. Leaves dark green, milky white ondorsal side, oblong-lanceolate, in whorls of 4-7. Flowers greenish-white in terminalcymes. Fruit a follicle, pendulous, paired. Each follicle contains numerous seeds,having hairs on both the sides. (India)
A medium-sized to large tree 10-15(-60)m tall, bole cylindrical, in older treesmassively fluted, up to 125cm in diameter, with stout buttresses up to 10m tall whichspread out at the base for up to 4m, outer bark brown or yellowish-white, smooth butcoming off evenly in small papery flakes, with horizontally enlarged lenticels andhoops, inner bark yellow to brown, usually tinged yellowish, with copious whitelatex; leaves in whorls of 4-8(-9), narrowly elliptical to obovate, (5-)6-17(-22)cm x(1.5-)2.5-7.5cm, apex obtuse or rounded, with 25-45mm long.
