Description
An evergreen tree with rough, dark-grey bark. Leaves thickly coriaceous, pubescentbeneath, broadly oblong, obtuse, base rounded. Flowers small, greenish-white inaxillay and terminal panicles. Fruits ovoid, or globose, black, stones hard. (India)

A tree,slightly tall, with a straight trunk and young branches clothed with silky hairs;leaves simple, a!terna entire, thickly coriaceous, 12.5-25cm long, 6.2-12.5cm broad,broadly oblong, obtuse, sometimes emarginate. glabrescerit above, more or lessvillous beneath, reticulately veined, base rounded, nerves and veins impressed on theupper surface, main nerves 10-20 pairs; petiolas 1.2cm long; flowers small, 3.5-5mmdiameter, bisexual, s greenish-white in taiin and axillary pyramidal, ferrugineo-pilosepanicles which are shorter than leaves; bracts small, caducous; calyx short, obtusely3-5 - lobed, lobes short, broadly ovate, ciliate; petals 4 or 5, 2.5mm long. 1mm broad,ovate-oblong, subacute; disk fleshy, 5-crenate; stamens 10, shorter than petals,filaments flattered, anthers about as long as filaments; carpels 5. free, one perfect.cc;nical, villous and the ether four reduced to cylindrical filaments, seated in thecavity of the disk, style short, stigma truncate, ov vie pendulous; drupes obliquelylentiforin, 0.8-l .2cm long, black, stone hard, 2-valved.Flowers from January to March.(Sri Lanka)
