Small perennial; roots elongate; stems 10-30cm Long, slender, green, long, slender,green, prostrate or decumbent from a short caudex, ascending above, rufted, withscattered minute curved haius; leaves chartaceous, very short petiolate, elliptic toovate or broadly lanceolate, 1-2.5(-3)cm long, 3-12mm wide, acute to subobtuse atboth ends, veved green, slightly puberulous or glabrate, with a raised midrib beneath,the reticulated veinlets rather prominent above; racemes loosely few-flowered, 1-3cmlong, the peduncles short, supra-axilllary; flowers purple; lateral sepals ovate, obtuse,rather petal-like, 5-7mm long, accrescent after anthesis, to 10mm long, becominggreen in fruit, the remaining sepals lanceolate, 3-4mm ling; petals connate, spreadingabove, 6-7mm long, the lowest one with a fimbriateappendage at apex; capsules flat,winged on the margins, rounded-cordate, retuse, 7-8mm wide, membranous, glabrous;seeds ellipsoidal, brown, about 2.5mm long, whitepilose, strophiolate on uppermargin. -Apr. -July.
