A small herb covered with numerous, hard, long prickles. Leaves simple, drooping,oblong, leathery, smooth, apex rounded. Flowers 1 to 6, borne on a spine or on a shortstalk, small, corolla reddish, much longer than the calyx. Pods up to 1 in. long, curvedor straight, greenish grey and hard. (India)
