Description
A shrub or small tree up to 8m tall, young branches brownish pubescent; leavessuborbicular, 4-8cm x 4-8cm, bifid for up to 1/3-1/2, base truncate to shallowlycordate, apex of lobes rounded, 7-9 veined, glabrous above, pubescent below, stipules,linear, up to 1cm long; inflorescence a lateral raceme, short, few-flowered; flowerbuds fusiform, 2cm long, puberulous, hypanthium turbinate, calyx splittingspathaceous, petals broadly ovate, subequal, 4-5cm long, short clawed, yellow, oryellow with dark purple blotch on the median petal, stamen 10, all fertile, unequal;fruit linear, flat 7-15cm x 1-1.5cm, velutinous, 5-seeded, dehiscent; seedssuborbicular, up to 1cm in diameter.
