A tall, perennial herb of about 2m high. Leaves very large at the base, borne onwinged stalks and upper leaves smaller with two lobes at the base of the leaves,almost clasping the stems. Flowers bluish purple or almost black, borne on roundedflower heads; few flower heads are clustered together. Pappus feather, giving acurious, fluffy appearance to the fruiting flower heads. (India)
