A straggling or sometimes erect, glabrous shrub; branches terete, smooth, green.Leaves on the young shoots only, small, linear-oblong, acute, spinous-pointed.Flowers in many-flowered corymbs, from the old branches, or from short lateral shoots; pedicels slender, about 12mm long. Sepals: The outer pubescent, ciliate, the lower one very saccate, acuminate, the upper much smaller, ovate-oblong, concave; sepals elliptic, acute, with floccose margins. Petals red, narrow-oblong, Gynophore up to 12mm long. Fruit globular, size of a small cherry, glabrous, beaked. (India)
