An Annual herb; branches 5-45cm long, stout or slender, leafy, branches, internodes 25-5cm long, bases 5-15cm long, 4-5 rant broad. nartowly hne or I ar-iaweo1at acute oracuminate, flat, glabrous or hairy. sheaths 6-5mm long, mouths ciliate flowers regular,bisexual, bright violet-Nue, cymes reduced to axillary fascicles with small linear orlinear-lanceolate bracteoles, almost concealed in the leaf-sheaths; sepats 3, 8mm long,spathulately lanceolate, acuminate, sparingly hairy; petals 3, fused into a funnel-shaped tube, 8mm long, lobes small, rounded; stamens 6, inserted at the base of thecorafla-tu filaments subequal, fusiform below the tip, anthers oblong; ovary superior,3-locular with 2 ovules in each loculus, style slender, fusiform below the acuminatetip, stigma punctiform, superposed; fruit capsule 5-6mm long, shortly stipitate. tongbeaked, quite glabr 3 6-seeded, loculicidally dehiscent; seeds large, 2. 5mm tong,oblong, compressed or concave, brown and shining with shallow pits.
