A robust, erect herb having woody stem at base and purplish to dark purplishbranches. Leaves croad, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, acute or acuminate, sinuate,dentate with cuneate base, unequal sided. Flowers pedicillate, solitary. Calyx tubewith 5 triangular, lanceolate, acuminate tooth, base reflexed in fruits. Corolla funnelshaped, violet or purplish outside, white within. Stamens 5, attached near the base ofthe corolla tube. Stigma 2-lobed. Capsule globose, covered with blunt, tubercles.Seeds flattened, greyish white. (India)
