Description
Much branched scandent, green annual, retrorsely spinosescabrous on stems and petioles: leaves membranors, long petiolate, palmately 5-to 7-cleft, 5-12cm Long and as wide, corate, regularly serrulate, the lobes acuminate, slightly narrowed toward base, with yellow sessile discoid glands beneath, scabrous on both surfaces; staminate flowers in loosely arranged erect panicles 15-25cm long, pedicelled, nodding, the anthers pale yellow, pendulous on slender filiform filaments; pistillate spike conelike, broadly ovoid, the bracts ovateor- bicular, 7-10mm long, imbricate, herbaceous, accrescent after anthesis, scabrously pilose on back and especially on margin; achenesvate-orbicular, inflated-lenticular, yellow-brown, puberulous near the top, glandless, 4-5mm long and as wide.-Sept.-Oct.
