An evergreen tree, usually 6m or more tall with reddish-brown, thin and scaly bark.Leaves distichous, linear, with recurved margin, shining above, pale-yellow brown orrusty below. Flowers usually dioecious and male strobili are stalked, globose, arisingfrom the axils of the leaves; each consists of 6-14 stamens with short filaments.Female strobili are solitary and axillary.
