A small, pubescent tree with a pale bark; leaves nearly sessile, simple, opposite, 10-20anlong, 5-l1cm broad, broadly ovate to elliptic or ovate-obfong, obtuse or obtuselyacumi aate, pubescent on both sides, base obtuse, main nerves 10-14 pairs,conspicuous, petioles 3 a long; flowers regular, bisexual, white, inodorous in terminalcorymbose cymes, pedicels .5-2cm long, slender, bracts small, lanceolate. pubescentand ciliate; sepals 5, fused at he base and overlapping, glandular inside, lobes 2.5-3mm long, lanceolate, acute and ciliate; tals 5, fused into a corolla-tube 0.8-l.2cmlong, puberulous outside, slightly inflated near the base over the stamens, mouth notclosed by a ring of hairs, throat hairy inside, lobes oblong, .2cm long, 0.5cm broad,rounded at apex, more or less pubescent; stamens 5, inserted near the base of thecorolla-tube, included, filaments short, anthers lanceolate; disk absent ovary superior,2-carpellary, carpels distinct. ovules many in each carpcl, style short, stigma slightlythickened; fruit follicles 2, elongate. diverging. 20-35cm long, cylindric, often dottedwith white spots; seeds linear-oblong, tipped with spreading, deciduous coma.
