A prostrate, perennial herb with a central dome shaped cluster of large purple flowerheads. Root is stout, softly aromatic, dark-brown, perennial. Leaves radical, spreadingin a rosette manner, hairy above, thickly white tomentose beneath, with toothedsegments. Heads purple, short stalked, aggregated in the centre of the leaf rosette.(India)
