Rhizomatous herb, about 1m high. Golden yellow rhizome. Leaves large, entire,lighgreen, 30-40cm long by 8-10cm wide. Inflorescence, cylindrical, curved bracts withtwo or more pale yellow flowers except in the upper part, where the bracts are whiteand green or pink and without flowers. The ovary consists of 3-locules; each loculecontains 2 ovules. The capsules are ellipsoid. Seeds are rare.
